BEST OF INPUT

An exciting new development for 2008 is the Best of Input sessions which will run alongside the ADG Conference program.

Input (the acronym is derived from INternational PUblic Television) is an annual weeklong showcase where the rules of broadcasting are challenged and redefined. Now celebrating its 30th year, this event is the only global showcase that focuses specifically on innovative programs produced in the public interest.

Input has organised international television's most important and influential annual screening conference for 30 years. This unique event - held in a different country each year - encourages the development of public service television by screening and debating the most outstanding programmes from around the world. The 2008 ADG Conference’s Best of Input will highlight the best sessions from this year’s event in Johannesburg, and local examples.

Best of Input will provide a platform where 14 programs will be screened then discussed with the director, commissioning editors, producers and audience through a facilitator. Best of Input will commence on Thursday 25 September 2008.

THE DIRECTORS SIDEBAR

Due to its 2007 success, The Directors Sidebar will return to the 2008 ADG Conference. The Directors Sidebar is aimed at providing exposure and opportunities for all directors, producers and all registered conference delegates. Sidebar events will include Feedback Sessions, giving directors the chance to screen a short documentary or drama film and receive feedback from industry professionals, a Directors Pitch to a panel, with a prize for the best pitch, and Networking Sessions, either one-on-one or with a small group of commissioning editors, funding agency representatives and established producers and directors.

Also included this year will be an opportunity for participants to take part in 'Speed-dating with Producers'. How often has a director got a great project and can't find a producer? Established producers from feature, television drama, documentary and children’s TV will be available for 15 minute one-on-one pitches.
